A group of our Year 6 pupils recently had the fantastic opportunity to attend the Ignite Minds Showcase at Notts County’s Meadow Lane, following several weeks of work in school exploring how sport can help create positive change in the world.
Working in teams, the children designed posters linking sport to one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Their creative ideas demonstrated not only their understanding of global issues but also how teamwork, physical activity and community can make a real difference.
The showcase brought together schools, businesses and community organisations from across Nottinghamshire. Our pupils confidently presented their ideas to a range of visitors, including local business leaders and the Chief Executive Officer of Notts County, explaining the thinking behind their projects and answering questions with maturity and enthusiasm. It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to develop their communication, presentation and confidence skills in a real-world setting.
Throughout the day, our pupils represented the school exceptionally well. They showed confidence, professionalism and pride, receiving many positive comments from visitors about their enthusiasm, creativity and ability to discuss their ideas so thoughtfully.
We are incredibly proud of everyone who took part. Experiences like these allow our pupils to see how the skills they develop in the classroom can be applied beyond school, while also inspiring them to think about the positive impact they can have on their local and wider communities. Well done to all involved!
