Helping your children to keep safe online is one of the most important lessons we can teach our children due to the many possible risks associated with Internet use. At Cropwell Bishop Primary School we teach Online Safety lessons in the first week of every half term. These lessons cover:

Our Online Safety curriculum has been written inline with ‘Education for a Connected World’ and there are strong links to our PSHE curriculum too.

We know that the internet has many benefits to learning and socialising but there are also dangers and well-being concerns for children. We hope that this page will signpost you to some resources that may be of use to help parents understand the dangers, how to help protect your children and also how to begin conversations with your child around keeping safe.

Systems, Security and Privacy

Agree on rules for internet and device use at home using this Family Agreement from ChildNet.

Online Bullying

The NSPCC have published advice for children and parents about online bullying here. This defines what online bullying can look like, how to support your child if they are bullied and what to do if your child is bullying online.

Digital Well-Being and Lifestyle

Passive screen time and consuming media from the internet is a concern for many parents. Internet Matters have published screen time information for parents which is differentiated by age.

Internet Matters have also published recommendations for apps and websites which promote good lifestyle choices on and offline, including apps to support children with their mental health. This website also has reviews on apps, websites and games that your child may ask to play or use.

Relationships and Self-Image Online
