Following on from another busy and successful half term of sport at Cropwell Bishop, pupils once again represented the school with pride, determination and teamwork across a range of competitive events.
Our Year 5/6 pupils got things underway at the Indoor Sports hall Athletics Competition, taking part in a wide range of relay races and field events. The team performed brilliantly throughout the afternoon, finishing in an impressive second place overall. This fantastic result means they will now progress to the finals event next half term – a huge achievement and one they should be extremely proud of.
The girls’ football team also began their competitive season, travelling away to Robert Miles for their first matches of the year. Despite facing challenging cold and rainy conditions, the girls played exceptionally well as a team, showing resilience, commitment and a great attitude throughout. We are looking forward to seeing them build on this strong start when they take part in a cup match after half term.
Meanwhile, the boys’ football team were given an exciting opportunity to compete in a tournament hosted at Nottingham Forest Academy. Playing in such impressive, professional-standard facilities added an extra sense of occasion to what was already a high-level competition. Facing strong opposition, the boys rose to the challenge superbly, winning two of their matches against top teams. It was a fantastic and memorable experience for the pupils, giving them the chance to test themselves in an elite sporting environment and inspiring them to push themselves at this top level!
It has been another excellent half term of sport; we look forward to even more exciting sporting opportunities next half term.
