Cropwell Bishop Primary School

Key Stage 2 Visit Belvoir Cricket Club for Action-Packed Enrichment Day

On Monday, all KS2 pupils from Cropwell Bishop Primary School enjoyed an exciting and activity-filled day at Belvoir Cricket Club. The morning was dedicated to developing cricket skills, with each class rotating through a series of fun and engaging stations that included batting, bowling, fielding and catching. Pupils worked together in teams and built their confidence while learning the basics of the game.

After a well-earned packed lunch, the afternoon brought a variety of fascinating experiences that broadened the children’s knowledge of nature, farming, and health.

We were introduced to Scooby Doo, a magnificent Harris Hawk native to Central America. The children were captivated by the bird of prey’s beauty and power. Following this, we met a local beekeeper who brought along a honeycomb from her hive. Pupils even had the chance to taste some delicious fresh honey!

A local farmer gave a brilliant talk about the different crops grown in the area and explained what each is used for in everyday life. We also met a local NHS first responder who demonstrated some important basic first aid skills, helping us to understand how to stay safe and help others in emergencies.

To top off the day, we were joined by 40 friendly hounds from the Belvoir Hunt. The dogs were full of energy and joyfully ran around the pupils, much to everyone's delight, before we boarded the coach for the journey home.

It was a memorable day full of learning, exploration and fun – a huge thank you to everyone, especially Belvoir Cricket Club, who helped organise such a brilliant experience!
