Friends of the School
School Garden - July 2018
The school garden is looking wonderful this summer thanks to the children's hard work, ably assisted by the Friends of School Gardening Group. The Garden Club meet every Thursday lunchtime and then the ladies from the Friends of School stay and help the classes with the planting of the seeds during class time. So far they have had a good crop of radishes and strawberries with a lot more produce to come.
A big thank you to all the gardening team!
Garden Opening - Wednesday 5th October 2017
Yesterday saw the Grand Opening of our new school garden provided for us by The Friends of School. Miss Hussey and Mrs Bulmer opened the garden and everyone had a good look around and a cup of tea and cake.
We wish to say a huge thank you to the Friends of School for providing us with our new vegetable garden and garden by the front entrance. The Friends of School arranged for Cropwell Fencing to do the hard landscaping over the summer holiday and then members of the Friends very kindly came in over the summer and planted up all the beds ready for the children's return. Also Notcutts Garden Centre provided us with seeds and bulbs. As you can see they have done an amazing job and we are very grateful to all concerned.
Outdoor Classroom Grand Opening
After a lot of hard work and fundraising by Friends of School we have our fantastic new ‘Outdoor Classroom’. We are hoping to begin using it as soon as possible. If you get a chance after school, please walk on to the top playground to have a look – it’s amazing.
Who are we?
Friends of School (FOS) is a registered charity, which was set up to raise funds for school resources in addition to the school budget. We are members of the National Association of PTAs and are made up of a group of dedicated parents and carers who are truly committed to raising funds in any way that we can. We also rely on the support of people who are happy to help out whenever they can and most importantly that turn up to support events!
What do we do?
Tons of great stuff! As a fund raising body we organise various events throughout the year. It’s fun and can be hard work but also a really rewarding way in which to make a contribution to the school and community.
Would you like to join FOS?
FOS makes a real difference to our school and this is entirely due to the contribution of FOS members and support of the head teacher and staff.
We are always delighted for new parents/carers to join – it’s lots of fun and a great way to make new friends! We meet about once every two months, but don’t worry, we don’t expect everyone to make all the meetings or help out at every fundraiser.
If you’d like to join or would like more information, please contact any one of the committee or find us on the playground most days.
